No matter that there are no rules in military conduct against breastfeeding in uniform; one disparaging Facebook comment compared the images to “urinating and defecating.” Fellow soldier Rita Trujillo commented:  “I as one of many women who fought long and hard to be accepted and respected as fellow soldiers and the right to wear these uniforms feel shocked, angry at these published photos.” The photos were taken for the Mom2Mom Breastfeeding Support Group,which raises awareness of women’s right to breastfeed in public. Because “I as one of many women who fought long and hard to be accepted and respected as fellow soldiers and the right to wear these uniforms feel shocked, angry at these published photos.” This is a statement made by a woman about how women feeding their children in their work fatigues damages her status and acceptance as a female soldier. Meaning motherhood is seen as something “weak” and breastfeeding is “dirty”. Patriarchy is a hell of a drug.   A lot of this seem to come from people not being able to separate the breast from sexual intentions and evolution/nature’s intentions. To them, the breast is only for sexual purposes, and should be hidden from the world at all times unless in sexual situations, which women shouldn’t enjoy anyway. The fact that the mammary glands (which is what the breast primarily consists of) could be used to feed children, which is why they fill themselves with milk, is unheard of, and “unnatural”.  I think a lot of the people who look down on breastfeeding mothers don’t like it also  because, to them, it seems too “animal-like” or more specifically, “ape-like”. Apes feed their young this way, and these people can’t accept the fact that we are such similar animals that we would feed our young the same way. I understand that some women physically cannot breastfeed for whatever reason. Maybe they’re jealous of this special bond between mother and child, that they will never have, and that’s why they condemn breastfeeding so much? Bottle feeding a child doesn’t have the same connection that breastfeeding does, from what I’ve been told. Maybe those who cannot breastfeed are so enraged that they seek to shut down ALL breastfeeding mothers?  What’s funny is we see more boob than this in bastardized versions of fatigues in almost pornographic pictures yet this is wrong.
